Sydneysiders love gardening. However, with the whole of Greater Sydney in drought, we needed to educate Australians about the many ways they can save water in the garden; showing that it’s possible to flex their green thumbs at the same time.
We created a 100 square metre garden designed to withstand the toughest drought conditions. Filled with cactus, succulents and other water-efficient plant varieties, the Drought Proof Garden was a dramatic and impactful mini Botanic Garden, designed for people to photograph and share on social media. Visitors were welcome to roam the garden, take a guided tour with gardening experts, learn about the unique benefits of mulching and participate in special workshops with The Planthunter editor, Georgina Reid, to hear about the most efficient ways to maintain your plants.
